چکیده

Abstract Introduction: Children may be at a higher risk of experiencing the detrimental effects ionizing radiation arising from medical imaging. Dose optimisation is therefore recommended to provide assurance that their exposure as low reasonably achievable. To this end, periodic assessment dose levels and establishment Local Diagnostic Reference Levels (LDRLs) in facilities necessary. There general paucity literature data pertaining pediatric interventional radiology. This study establishes LDRLs diagnostic therapeutic heart catheterization procedures specialist hospital resource constrained country. Material methods: indicators actual patient were collected archive analyzed retrospectively determine median, 25th, 75th percentiles total Air Kerma Area Product (KAP), Cumulative (CAK), Fluoroscopy Time (FT), number Cine Images (CI) selected procedures. The also age-stratified into five age groups defined by International Commission on Radiation Protection publication 135. results compared values available similar studies benchmark our levels. set percentile values. Results: For (n = 80), KAP, CAK, FT, CI 4.0 Gy·cm 2 , 31.5 mGy, 14.3 min, 315 frames, respectively 3.2 30.5 17.5 606 for 143). Conclusions: did not vary significantly those published literature, suggesting practices center comparable international norms. Regular reviews must conducted check do deviate considerably.

Local Diagnostic Reference Levels for Common Computed Tomography Procedures at a Tertiary Hospital in South Africa

Introduction: An operational computed tomography (CT) scanner is a major source of human exposure to ionizing radiation. Exposure increases the risk of cancer and aplastic anaemia. All radiation exposures should be justified and optimized to meet the clinical objective. In order to avoid the administration of excessive radiation dose to patients, diagnostic reference l...

Local Diagnostic Reference Levels for Common Pediatric X-Ray Examinations in Khorasan Razavi Province, Iran

Introduction Given the fact that children are more sensitive to radiation, compared to adults, special attention needs to be paid to radiation protection in pediatric radiology. Diagnostic reference level (DRL) has been defined to be employed as a practical tool for examining the overall performance of a radiological center in terms of patient dose among a series of similar equipments in an are...

Establishment of Diagnostic Reference Levels and Estimation of Effective Dose from Computed Tomography Head Scans at a Tertiary Hospital in South Africa

Introduction: Head scans are the most frequently performed computed tomography (CT) examinations worldwide. However, there is growing concern over the probability of increased cancer risks among the exposed populations. Diagnostic reference levels (DRLs) identify radiation dose that is not commensurate with clinical objectives. The aim of this study was to establish DR...

Local Diagnostic Reference Levels for Some Common Diagnostic X-Ray Examinations In Sabzevar County of Iran

Introduction: Diagnostic reference level (DRL) is a useful tool for the promotion of optimization. The national DRLs (NDRLs) are useful, brief, and robust guidelines for optimizing radiation protection in a country. The aim of this study was to extract the local DRLs (LDRLs) for some common radiologic examination in Sabzevar county. Materials and Methods: There are eight radiology departments ...
